Charlottetown Conference 150th Anniversary

September 01, 2014

Commemorative envelope

On September 1, 1864, delegates from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and the Province of Canada gathered in Charlottetown, P.E.I., to discuss a union of the British North American colonies. A second meeting, held in Québec on October 10 of that year, brought the possibility of a union even closer to reality. This envelope marks the 150th anniversary of the historic milestone in Charlottetown with archival photographs and contemporary depictions. A commemorative envelope celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Québec Conference will be released in October.
