Import restrictions

All items require an import permit, except:

  • alcohol
  • brides' trousseaux
  • goods imported by the diplomatic and consular corps
  • non-commercial items to a value of $40CDN
  • original works of art imported by their author
  • personal effects, clothing and objects
  • provisions for a journey
  • red Cross merchandise
  • returned merchandise of Cambodian origin, provided it has not been altered in any way
  • samples
  • school outfits
  • traveller's requisites.

Prohibited items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

  • acids/batteries
  • animals
  • bank notes / travelling cheques
  • graphite products
  • infectious substances
  • jewellery
  • log and timber products from Liberia (wood-chips, poles, post, fence pickets, sheets, flooring, molding, pallet, tool handles, barrels, crates, tableware/kitchenware, shutters, blinds, cases/boxes/chests for jewellery and silverware, clothes hangers, clothespins, toothpicks, etc.)
  • narcotics/drugs
  • passports
  • precious stones
  • tobacco.

The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia issues all import permits.

The following is a list of documents required when importing into Cambodia:

  1. Commercial Invoice
  2. Pro forma Invoice
  3. Import Declaration Form

Custom Procedures:

The owner/representative opens the parcel in front of both customs and postal officers for custom officials to verify. If the customs value is less than 300USD, the declarant has to submit a Simplified Customs Declaration (Customs Declaration Form for non-commercial goods). If the value is greater than 300 USD, a Detailed Customs Declaration Form (SAD) is required.

If parcels have no commercial value and is a gift, document etc, the parcel will be treated as a normal postal item and will be released to the receivers address without customs duties or taxes.
