Tracadie-Sheila, N.B., Post Office temporarily closed – contingency plans underway

May 14, 2026

The Tracadie-Sheila Post Office at 3658 Principale Street will remain closed until further notice, but the local operations team has developed contingency plans to resume delivery of parcels today.

We continue the abatement and repairs inside a limited ceiling area of the post office, due to water infiltration. The post office will reopen once third-party air quality testing gives us clearance to resume full operations. The health and safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority.

Without full access to the facility and our mail processing equipment, the delivery of lettermail and Neighbourhood Mail (flyers) will be temporarily interrupted and resume only once the post office reopens.

Contingency for parcel delivery

We will begin delivery of parcels today, starting with the backlog, to the customers’ door. If customers are not available to receive the parcel, a delivery pickup card will be left indicating which postal outlet to go to. Postal service, as well as parcel pickup, will be available at either the postal outlet at Pharmacie Jean Coutu (3500 Principale Street, open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm) or at the Tracadie-Sheila Station B Post Office (4238 Principale Street, open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm).

We thank customers for their patience during this unplanned interruption and we will continue to provide updates as they are available. Should customers have questions regarding their postal services, they can contact Canada Post’s Customer Service team online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).

May 15: Today our letter carriers are doing their best to sort and deliver mail without access to our processing equipment. We will continue looking for contingencies to get as much letter mail delivered as we can along with parcels until the post office reopens.
